Parent Councils
Parent Councils are made up of parents with children at the school, the Head Teacher and co-opted members from community groups with interest in the school (such as school chaplains).
The role of the Parent Council is to:
support the school in its work with pupils
represent the views of all parents
encourage links between the school, parents, pupils, pre-school groups and the wider community
report back to all the parents in the school (called the Parent Forum)
play a role in the appointment of Head Teachers and Depute Head Teachers
support the school and pupils during school inspections
How can you get involved?
Find out who the chair of Parent Council is and contact them to find out how you can get involved.
If you are a parent then you may be able to join the Parent Council if there are spaces. You can also support events that they run.
If you are a member of the chaplaincy team or a member of a community group that is already involved in the school you could speak to the Chair of the Parent Council about becoming a co-opted member.
