Pupil Mentoring

For many churches that don’t have the capacity to develop work with their local schools, or perhaps their employed worker is already over-stretched, connecting members of the the congregations into existing mentoring programmes like MCR Pathways can make the world of a difference.

It’s true for anyone that when life going on around us is overwhelming, it’s difficult to concentrate on work, or studies. For some young people, circumstances outside of their control make growing up even harder for them than for their peers and thinking about the future is just too hard to focus on.

Mentors spend time each week listening to and encouraging a young person in their school. The relationship that develops is what makes the difference and can help pupils build their confidence and discover their potential.

Could you help transform the life chances of a young person by sharing an hour of your week? There are still so many pupils who need a mentor – someone to chat with, to listen and to encourage them.

MCR currently supports disadvantaged pupils and young people on the edges of the care system across the country, including: Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Clackmannanshire, Dundee, East Lothian, Edinburgh, Falkirk, Fife, Glasgow, Highland, Inverclyde, North Ayrshire, Perth & Kinross, Shetland, South Lanarkshire and West Dunbartonshire.  To date have supported over 4000 pupils across 120 schools.
