A Week of Hope

The Greenwood & Irvine Royal Academies' Schools' Chaplaincy Team, along with Jon Jackal from Youth for Christ (YFC) and other YFC and Scripture Union workers, recently led assemblies for over 2,000 students!

They shared lessons on 'hope in the face of fear & anxiety', and the week ended with an amazing Jon Jackal concert at Fullarton ConneXions, where many young people made the life-changing decision to follow Jesus.

A dedicated school Prayer Space and the 'Pause' Prayer Bus also gave students a unique chance to explore prayer in fresh, creative ways.

Neil Urqhuart, minister at United Irvine Church of Scotland explained, “In the wake of pandemic, shutdowns, and lockdowns, anxiety, worry, and fear are all too real among people of all ages, and perhaps especially our young folk.

With our Hope Week we wanted to encourage students & staff to dream and believe there is always hope! We wanted to ensure no one and nothing ever leaves them feeling isolated, alone, forgotten, shunned and ‘hopeless”.
