Cosy Café in Church

Cosy Cafe is a fair trade youth cafe that meets in an evening in a church.   It is a space for young people to develop relationships with each other and with God in a comfortable and fun environment.  It can be run with activities like a games room, a ‘chill out room’ and of course a cafe selling hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows! There are also creative activities each week to help the young people to explore some of life’s big questions.

How could you start this yourself?

  • To set up a Cosy Cafe you would need to gather together a team of volunteers to help. You would need people to: set up equipment, organise the kitchen side of things, plan programmes, deliver creative teaching material and get alongside the young people.

  • You would also need to get a Cosy Cafe Starter pack

  • You would need other equipment to create a comfortable and fun atmosphere, such as throws, cushions and fairy lights.

If you also run a Cosy Cafe in school you can also have ‘crossover’ from the church and school groups. One chaplaincy team has successfully run a weekend away with their groups.
